Keeping Turkey out of the European Union is against logic, reason and historical truths, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

Keeping Turkey out of the European Union is against logic, reason and historical truths, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said. Turkey shows a sincere effort to become a part of the European Union, Erdogan said on Wednesday during opening of new congress center in Aydin, a western city. "Turkey is not after its own benefit only. We want to win our friends and improve with our friends," said Tayyip Erdogan.

He stressed that Turkish diaspora in Europe makes Turkey active in the continent and said EU membership will complete the relationship. Turkish PM noted that European culture and civilization is rooted in Turkey by saying that, "From Iznik to Bergama, from Ephesus to Troy, many developments that shaped Europe took place in Turkey."
