Azerbaijan's first telecommunications Azerspace – 1 will be launched to orbit this night at 1:36-2:20 Baku time.

The satellite will be launched from French Guiana Cosmic Centre's Kuru cosmodrome, Gun.Az reports, referring to Ariane Space.

It will operate from an orbital location at 46 degrees East longitude through an arrangement between Azercosmos and MEASAT Satellite Systems of Malaysia, which owns the rights to the orbital slot.

It will provide communication services for Azerbaijan, Central Asia and Africa.

Azerbaijan will use its 20% of resources for own demands, and the rest will be exported to foreign markets.

The 3.2-tonne satellite was produced by US Company Orbital.
