“The adoption of the resolution on Azerbaijan runs contrary to the spirit of friendly relations between Germany and Azerbaijan and it serves aggravating bilateral relations.”

APA reports that the Foreign Ministry issued the statement on German Bundestag’s resolution entitled “Demanding the protection of human rights in Azerbaijan”.

The statement says that the adoption of the resolution was proposed by Christian Democratic Union, Christian Social Union and Social Democratic Party. The Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany has already expressed its position in this regard: “Putting pressure on the investigation and judicial process in Azerbaijan is unacceptable as in all legal states. No one is arrested in Azerbaijan for being a journalist or for his political activities. Charges mentioned in the resolution are groundless. We believe that they are based on incorrect information provided by groups and other states aiming to damage Azerbaijan's image. Although the resolution says about the Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, information about the refugees and IDPs expelled from the occupied territories as well as Armenia as a result of the ethnic cleansing conducted by Armenia, unfortunately it doesn’t include any call or demand about the protection of the human rights of those persons whose most fundamental convention rights were grossly violated and the responsibility of the Armenian side for its acts.”
