“The voters had a high turnout in presidential election in Azerbaijan.”

It was announced by head of the observation mission of the Senate of Italy Sergio Devin at a press conference summing up monitoring of the presidential vote.

The delegation visited eight polling stations in Baku, Sumgait and other cities.

“We were surprised by a great number of women represented in the district election commissions both as members and chairs of the commission,” Devin said.

“Women’s involvement in political life of the country is a very important step towards development of democracy. The work of the polling stations was organized at the highest level. The presidential election in Azerbaijan was held in a free and transparent atmosphere,” the observer added.
