Cooperation between Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey is of great importance in the region.

The statement came from spokesman for Iranian MFA Ramin Mehmanparast in his interview with Iran’s Mehr.

He said the format of this cooperation between the two countries is very effective and has a positive influence.

The trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey was organized for the first time in Istanbul in early 2011.

Then on 16 April, the sides held a meeting in the Iranian city of Urmia.

By results of the meeting, the ministers passed the Urmian declaration of nine paragraphs which reflected the issues of complex economic development, expansion of ties in tourism, science and culture, interaction in regional and international organizations, resolution of conflicts within the framework of territorial integrity of the states and inviolability of borders, as well as principles of establishing trilateral cooperation in other spheres.

Additionally, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the foreign ministers in Nakhchivan in October of this year.
