Minister of Defence Irakli Alasania has commented on the statement made by James Appathurai.

NATO has made it clear prior to its upcoming summit in Wales that Georgia is not prepared to be granted MAP this time, however, Irakli Alasania says that Georgia is waiting for more determined steps from  the Alliance as considering the developments in Ukraine and the regional security issues, reports.

`Today the NATO and Georgia are talking about the next plan for integration, which is called the MAP and we still need some years to be prepared with political system, security measures and our defensibility in order to become the fully fledged member of the Alliance. However, I believe that the developments in Ukraine, the Russian aggression and the regional security context, should indicate to the need of starting negotiations on Georgia`s membership,` Irakli Alasania said.
