Turkish Airlines plans to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan opening the Istanbul-Lankaran air flight.

"We are negotiating with the Azerbaijani side on the opening of a flight to Lankaran. It will presumably open in summer of 2014", head of the company Temel Kotil told Azerbaijani journalists as part of the International Transport Forum in Leipzig.

Lankaran will be the fourth Azerbaijani city with an air communication with Turkey. The flights to Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan are operated at the moment.

According to Kotil, the flights to Lankaran will first be operated four times a week. In the future their number will be raised to daily.

Turkish air company also plans to raise the number of flights to Baku, Ganja and Nakhchivan. According to head of the company, bilateral agreements allow to do this because Turkey and Azerbaijan maintain an agreement on common air space.
