Recep Tayyip Erdogan
The statement came from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan speaking at the session of the faction of the ruling party of Justice and Development.
However, he said that in the history of opposition People’s Republican Party there are such dark pages which will never be forgotten by Turkish and Azerbaijani peoples.
“146 Azerbaijani intellectuals escaped Stalin’s repressions in Turkey in 1945. In a belief to find refuge among their Turkish brothers, they could even not image that they will be betrayed. When they understood that they faced betrayal, they even asked Turkish commanders to shoot them down under the Turkish flag.
But the-then government of the People’s Republican Party could not stand Stalin’s demand and gave them back. Our Azerbaijani brothers were transferred to the Soviet powers with their hands ties.
Now the People’s Republican Party intends to do the same with Syrians who found refuge in Turkey and transfer them to the thugs of the Baas party. But we won’t allow it since we have always been next to those who needed help. How can the People’s Republican Party continue to speak about brotherhood and democracy? It has always sought its own ambitions”, Erdogan said.
