Gul, Erdogan

President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held their usual weekly meeting in Istanbul yesterday.

Last week's meeting between two was not held as Prime Minister Erdogan was recovering in his home following his second operation.

The top two figures of the state apparatus meet on Thursday for their weekly meeting but with Erdoğan having denied an air trip to Ankara by his doctors, President Gul, residing in Istanbul for the time being, invited Erdogan to the Huber mansion in Tarabya on the Bosporus.

No statement was made after the meeting which lasted one and a half hours.

The spouses of the President and the Prime Minister also attended the meeting.

Prime Minister Erdogan is going to stay in Istanbul for another week.

Meanwhile, President Gul received the Dutch Foreign Minister Uri Rosenthal and the delegation with him.
