The National TV & Radio Broadcasting Council of Azerbaijan (NTRC) expects the second phase of financing film industry development in the country

The Council reports that today AZN 5 million allocated by the country’s President to local TV stations have been successfully spent.

"Over the passed period all the local TV channels filmed serials on various topics due to received finances. Series were filmed on historical, social issues, as well as on humanitarian values. In the coming months we expect to obtain a second round of funding which, according to preliminary information, must be larger than the previous one," a Council’s source said.

According to NTRC experts, it is also planned to review the matter of allocation of these funds directly to the producers of TV series or TV channels, which will broadcast them later, Fineko reports.

"At primary stage we allocated money to TV channels, which in turn transferred part of them film producing companies. This time in order to determine the biggest rationality of spending of the allocated finances and production of quality films, we’ll discuss the expediency of allocation of these finances to film producers themselves, who will then sell them to TV channels at reasonable prices," the NRTC emphasized.
