ICT minister meets TeliaSonera Group's president

Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has today received the delegation led by the president and CEO of TeliaSonera Lars Nyberg.

During the meeting Abbasov spoke about wide-scale projects realized in ICT sector of Azerbaijan. Noting that development of broadband internet needs $ 350m, the minister also added that this would widen the activity of mobile operators in provision of country’s population with 4G technologies, APA reports.

‘Under the order of Azerbaijani President, given in March, 2012, the State Fund on IT Development under the Ministry of Communications and IT will start allocate big funds from January of next year. In the near future, the Cabinet considers give special concessions to companies rendering ICT services’.

In turn, Nyberg expressed sureness about the contribution of the Ministry of Communications to further development of cooperation relations between mobile operators.

Abbasov said that due to the 4G technology the demand of the population for mobile internet increased significantly: Azercell has implemented all obligations successfully. Taking into account the fact that such demand will increase in the coming years more, Azercell has to intensify its efforts in his direction’.

At the end of the meeting, the delegation was informed about the Internet Management Forum to be held in November, 2012. TeliaSonera Group President has been invited to the forum and BakuTel exhibition and conference as a special guest.
