According to statistics of website www.whois.az, since early 2012 it has been registered 3,222 domains and removed 1,795 and, and as a result, 14,591 domains have been registered in the country, including 13,502 *.az domains, Fineko/abc.az reports.

Then follow *.com.az - 629, *.edu.az - 145, *.org.az - 84, *.net.az - 55, *.int.az - 44, *.pp.az - 42, *.co.az - 36, *.info.az - 23, *.biz.az - 14, *.name.az - 5, *.pro.az - 4. The number of individual domains decreased from 5 to 4.
For the last 2 years the number of domains in *.az domain zone has considerably increased and if in 2009 annual growth of domains made 2,000, in 2010 it was 3,000 and in 2011 reached 4,387. But annually removal of unused or unpaid domains takes place, as a result net growth of .az domains in 2011 made only 1,829 names.
