Hasan Aliyev
This was Aliyev's first victory with his new coach.
Farid Mansurov himself was twice world Greco-Roman wrestling champion and won gold at the 2004 Olympics. Injury forced him to retire from competition earlier this year and he was appointed head coach of Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestling team.
Talking about his World Championship victory in Moscow in the 60 kg category, Hasan Aliyev said, “I was feeling tense, since this was the world championship. It involves the strongest wrestlers in the world and the best opponents are from Asia. It was very tough. I would single out the quarterfinal and the final where I had to face Kyrgyz and Japanese wrestlers."
Aliyev said that he had won the first gold in Farid Mansurov's career as a coach, so he wanted to present the medal to him.
Farid Mansurov said: “On the first day of the contest, we had high hopes of Vitaliy Rahimov but he had to content himself with bronze. I said from the beginning that we would win gold. As a result, Hasan Aliyev climbed to the winners' podium. We are happy with his success. This year has been very successful for Hasan. After the European Championship he has gone on to win the world championship.”
