The number of cybercrimes has increased in Azerbaijan, representative of the Ministry of National Security Karim Karimov said at the 'Workshop on a comprehensive approach to cyber-security' organized by OSCE Office in Baku.
According to the ministry’s representative, the number of the crimes related to money laundering, robberies from credit cards, joint activity of the transnational criminal groups in several countries has increased recently.
Karim Karimov also said that the facts of organizing illegal communication channels, destroying, isolating data through computer networks, spreading disinformation, carrying out ideological propaganda, bank fraud, giving false information about terror attack are increasing.
The ministry’s official said Azerbaijan’s territory had undergone occupation, the country had about one million refugees and IDPs. According to Karim Karimov, there are young patriots among them, several incidents happened concerning the persons, who expressed their protest in 1998-2000.
'The related reports are found on the internet. Investigations show that the representatives of the neighboring state established instigating contacts in Azerbaijan’s national forums, chats, involved these young people and caused incident,' he said.
Karim Karimov also said that some, who faced bank fraud, avoided giving information about it. This makes criminals more active.
