Ramil Safarov

On September 13, an urgent resolution concerning Ramil Safarov will be submitted for discussion at the plenary session of the European Parliament.

European Parliament’s Liberal Group will also hold a meeting within the session.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, member of parliament Elkhan Suleymanov told APA that Rumanian politician Norika Nikolay from Liberal Group proposed not to sign the draft-law concerning Ramil Safarov. The proposal was approved and the Liberal Group made a decision not to defend the resolution on Ramil SAfarov’s issue.

“Liberals consider that this resolution is non-objective and doesn’t have a legal base. So, this resolution doesn’t meet the requirements of 122 paragraph of European Parliament Procedure rules called Urgent Resolutions and can’t be adopted by the sides as a case influencing on war launching. The majority of liberals voted for the refusal of the resolution”, - said Suleymanov.

According to Suleymanov, the fact on the issue, that the majority of liberals refused the resolution, means that the document won’t be proposed by the joint efforts of all the political parties: “So, the common pattern won’t be proposed for the election at the plenary session of the European Parliament. This won’t be the whole European Parliament’s resolution, Even if any document to be adopted at the session, so this document can be viewed as a declaration that was proposed by the diplomats of one political group that voted for it”.
