The carelessness and indifference of the Iranian regime to the South Azerbaijan region has openly exposed the real face of this system.

Chairman of the South Azerbaijan Social and Cultural Studies Centre, political scientist Davud Turan has told the statement to Gun.Az from the US.

"This earthquake once again showcases the Iranian regime's real face and showed the world community that, Iran is directly interested in destruction of South Azerbaijan. Non-development of this region is part of its official state policy. Besides offering aid on its own, it prevented aids from Turkey and Azerbaijan, which disgustingly shows the essence of this system. For century the Iranian regime has been usurping the wealth of South Azerbaijan, but during the earthquake, it left it alone.

But after the pressure of national activists and news spread in social networks, the Tehran government was forced to inform about the earthquake, which was hidden in the Iranian media. And the aid received was very negligible. Local people united as one fist to support the victims of the tragedy," Turan said.
