Azerbaijan demands release of poets from Iran’s prison

Khalaf Khalafov: “Groundless and unproved accusations against the Azerbaijani citizens are inadmissible”.

“The groundless false accusations against the Azerbaijani citizens are seen unserious in the context of confidence in the interstate relations”, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov said in the meeting with his Iranian counterpart Seyid Abbas Aragchi, press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

Khalafov noted that the issue of false accusations against the Azerbaijani citizens and their arrest in Iran was seriously raised in his meeting with Aragchi. “The groundless and unproved accusations against the Azerbaijani citizens are inadmissible and seriously damage the relations between the two countries”.

Khalafov said during the meeting he demanded the release of our citizens from Iran’s prison. “Iranian side has agreed that this issue is a factor irritating the relations between the two countries and must be solved soon”, Khalafov said.
