Consideration of this issue was put off for later at the request of the Azerbaijani side due to the parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan.

“The resolution on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be considered at the next session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly”, head of the Azerbaijani delegation in NATO PA, first vice speaker of Milli Majlis Ziyafet Asgarov told reporters.

Asgarov said the consideration of this issue was put off for later at the request of the Azerbaijani side due to the parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan. According to Asgarov, the leadership of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly treated Azerbaijan’s position with understanding.

“I have personally written a letter to the general secretary of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly David Hobbs with a request to postpone the consideration of the resolution and received an official response that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly treats our request with understanding. The response letter of Hobbs also notes that the chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly John Taner treats our request with understanding and respect”, Asgarov said.

According to Asgarov, this is a normal situation since the parliamentary elections are held in any country. Asgarov also noted that the Azerbaijani side has received the draft resolution on Nagorno Karabakh conflict consisting of 6 paragraphs and in a response letter it informed the NATO Parliamentary Assembly about its position on the paragraphs of the project of this resolution.

“Armenians can write many things, they always write untrue things”, Asgarov said adding that the Armenian politicians rushed to attribute the delay in consideration of the resolution to the “victory of the Armenian diplomacy”.

The 56th session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly will be held in Warsaw on November 13-16.

The vice speaker of Milli Majlis also has voiced his attitude to the parliamentary elections.
"Investigation will be held on complaints on violation of the election process submitted to the Election Commission and due resolutions will be adopted", Ziyafet Asgarov said.
"The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan were held on a very high level, they were transparent and fair", he said.
