Three Georgian soldiers die in Afghanistan

Mikheil Saakashvili has expressed his deepest condolence over the death of soldiers.

The Ministry of Defence of Georgia extends its condolences over the death of the Georgian military servicemen,  Corporals - Beraia Valiko, Meladze Ruslan and Kacharava Paata who were performing a peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.

The Georgian military servicemen died while they were carrying out combat task. Their combat vehicle exploded following an insurgent attack.

The Georgian military servicemen served in the 31st light infantry battalion of the 3rd Infantry Brigade in the province of Helmand within the NATO-led ISAF operation.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has expressed his deepest condolence over the death of three Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan on February 21.

`We have received very sorrowful information about the death of our guys in Afghanistan. This is a very painful blow for me especially after my recent visit to Afghanistan, where I saw how bravely they were fulfilling extremely risky tasks. Our guys go to Afghanistan having acknowledged this and are fulfilling their mission proudly and worthily, because they have to fight under the `five-crosses flag` of Georgia first of all protecting the interests of homeland,` says the statement of the president published on the official website of the President`s Administration.

President expresses his condolence and promises support to the families of the killed soldiers, their relatives and compatriots.
