UN Gen. Assembly adopts resolution on Georgia.

With 50 votes against 17, the UN General Assembly has adopted the resolution initiated by Georgia, which recognizes the right of the refugees and the internally displaced persons from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Region and their descendants, regardless of their ethnicity, to return to their homes.

The resolution expresses concern regarding the violent change of demographic picture in the result of the conflicts on Georgian territory and says that the UN General Assembly supports unacceptability of change of demographic situation in Georgia`s breakaway regions.

The document also emphasizes the necessity of protection of the property rights of these people in their native regions. The assembly resolution calls upon people who want to by real estate in Abkhazia, to abstain from violating the property rights of the IDPs and refugees.

The UN General Assembly discussed the issue - delayed conflicts in GUAM space and their influence on international peace, security and development.

The resolution, which was adopted in regards with Georgia, was titled `The state of IDPs and Refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia and Tskhinvali Region, Georgia`.
