Armenia to boycott sessions of CIS Interior Ministers

Armenia did not participate in the meeting of the Council of Interior Ministries of the CIS member-states, which began in Baku on 7 September.

According to the Armenian police, due to the fact that the presidency in the session rolls over to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov, the Armenian party will boycott the meetings of this structure, Armenian media report.

Earlier it was reported that on  3 September Armenian police sent a message of protest in connection with the extradition from Hungary and the subsequent pardon of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov and announced their refusal to participate in the meeting to the participants of the session due in Baku on 6-8 September.

The letter also stated that in this situation the Armenian delegation will not participate in the meetings of the Council in Baku, and the Chief of Police of Armenia transfers his powers of the chairman of the Council of the CIS Interior Ministers to the Russian Interior Minister.
