Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has postponed his visit to Washington until 7 December.

Turkey's prime minister was due to leave for Washington on 29 October at the invitation of US President Barack Obama.

Erdogan has had to cancel his visit because of festivities to mark Turkey's Republic Day. The Turkish Republic was proclaimed on 29 October 1923 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, Turkey’s first president.

Iraq, Iran, Armenian-Turkish relations, Karabakh, Afghanistan, the Middle East and Cyprus are to be discussed during Erdogan’s US visit.
