The growth in revenues has caused the 4-5-fold expansion of the country’s ICT sector.

The average annual growth of Azerbaijan’s ICT sector made 32-35% in the past five years, Azerbaijan’s ICT Minister told the Azerbaijani-Belarus business forum in ICT sector in Baku Tuesday.

The minister said that the growth in revenues has caused the 4-5-fold expansion of the country’s ICT sector.

"The figures are high and despite crisis in 2009 the revenues from the ICT sector made $1,345,000,000 with 9.3% growth in Azerbaijan", Abbasov said.

He noted that the share of intellectual production is unsatisfactory for Azerbaijan.

"In this connection, we find it interesting to cooperate with the Belarus high technology park that attracts a special attention in such a country as Azerbaijan because it is possible to create the park in Azerbaijan and gain a great progress in the sphere of intellectual production and services", the minister said.

Ali Abbasov noted that the business forum also envisions the meetings between the IT-companies of Azerbaijan and Belarus and signing of contracts.

The first Azerbaijani-Belarus business forum on information technologies started on 9 February 2010.

This event has been organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and the Belarus embassy in Azerbaijan with participation of the High Technology Park.
