There is a need to hold an expanded contest for projects related to introduction of ICT in education system, Education Minister Misir Marsanov said.

He made the proposal while drawing conclusions of the contest to reveal the most innovative teachers at Azerbaijani schools.

The contest was held within the framework of the cooperation of the Education Ministry with Microsoft and the State programme to apply information technologies in the education system for 2008-2012.

"Though in 2009 the activity of the ministry allowed connecting more than 500 schools to Internet, this is not enough. We are planning to raise the number of educational facilities connected to the world web this year", the minister said.

He said the Education Ministry is interested in holding the contest that will allow revealing the best project in application of ICT at schools and ensure the further implementation of this project.

"The results of the contest will be drawn at the end of the year", the minister said.
