BTC pipeline increases oil pumping

The January 2010 volume of Azerbaijani oil pumping by the BTC pipeline amounted to 3.04 mln tons.

This indicator is by 12.6% higher as compared to a similar period of the last year, according to sources in the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.

"On the whole, the pipeline has pumped 109.6 mln tons of oil since the moment of pipeline launching (4 June 2006-IF) until February 1 of this year", sources in SOCAR reports.

According to SOCAR, the Ceyhan oil terminal shipped 2.8 mln tons of Azeri oil in January,  and 107.5 mln tons of Azeri oil since launching the BTC pipeline.

The BTC pipeline extends to 1767 kilometers with 443 in Azerbaijan, 248 in Georgia, 1076 in Turkey. The pipeline capacity exceeds 50 mln tons of oil per year.

The project involves BP (30.1%);SOCAR (25.00%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5.00%); Itochu (3.40%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%); INPEX (2.50%), Total (5.00%) and Amerada Hess (2.36%).
