About 77% of people in the risk group in Baku have already been vaccinated against the A/H1N1 virus.

The vaccination process in Azerbaijan began on 15 January and is to be completed by 20-25 February 2010.

Health Ministry spokesman Viktor Gasimov said that the vaccination statistics are changing all the time, as more and more people are being inoculated.

A total of 172,000 doses of vaccine have been distributed to all administrative districts in the capital city and regions of Azerbaijan.

Gasimov said that a second batch of vaccines will arrive in the country in February.

He said that no cases of rejection of the vaccine have been recorded among persons in the risk group. The risk group includes medical workers, soldiers and pregnant women.

The swine flu vaccine is produced by a Belgian company, one of the world’s best producers of anti-viral medicines, and is supplied to Azerbaijan by the World Health Organization.
