Andres Herkel and Joseph Debono Grech met the head of Ganja's executive authorities, Eldar Azizov, yesterday.
"Ganja is an ancient city with a great history, so we decided to visit this city," Herkel said.
"Tomorrow we will meet representatives of non-governmental organizations, civil society and opposition parties. We will publicize the results of our visit at a press conference," Andres Herkel told journalists on Monday.
He said they expected their report on how Azerbaijan is meeting its Council of Europe commitments to be ready in July.
"The document will cover the country’s development and current problems. If you want to know my personal opinion, I see problems in the field of freedom of the media, but the report will cover other problems too," Herkel said.
Following the meeting, the co-rapporteurs visited Nizami Ganjavi’s mausoleum outside Ganja.
