In January of 2010 the turnover of small payments system in Azerbaijan made $471.686 mln by the exchange rate as at early Febuary (AZN0.8035/USD 1) against $6,568.688 mln in 2009 and $6.7 bn in 2008.
According to sources for the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, 618,000 small payments in the amount of AZN 379 mln were conducted in January against the average payment of AZN 613.27 against 889 small payments in the amount of AZN 686 mln under the average payment of AZN 771.65 in December 2009. To compare, in January of the last year the system conducted 233,000 payments in the amount of AZN 354 mln under the average payment of AZN 1,519.3.
In 2009 the system turnover made up 6,302,000 payments in the amount of AZN 5,274,000,000 under the average transaction of AZN 838.88. In 2008 the system conducted 1,942,000 payments in the amount of AZN 5.367 mln against 1.04 mln of payments in the amount of AZN 2,138 mln in 2007 and 842,000 payments in the amount of AZN 1,443 mln in 2006.
The record in the number of payments through a month (889,000 transactions) passed to December, 2009. December 2009 kept the record on the monthly turnover (AZN 692 mln) while the record in the average volume of payment (AZN 3,200) is still in June 2008.
The system has been functioning since 2002, through which the turnover made "minimal" AZN 9 mln on 20,000 payments. Meanwhile, the average payment made just AZN 400.
