Azerbaijani, Ukrainian, Bulgarian gymnasts win Baku championship

The 17th open championship in gymnastics has ended at the Olympic Sport Complex in Baku.

The news service for Azerbaijan’s Gymnastics Federation told News.Az that the contest also involved sportsmen from Ganja, Khirdalan, as well as Ukraine, Bulgaria and Georgia along with Baku gymnasts.

The contest was conducted in eight age categories. Ukrainians, Marina Bondarchuk (2002) and Martha Yakipchuk (1999), won in two of them. Bulgarian Anastasia Kise became the strongest in the elder age group (1995). In the remaining age groups the best were Baku gymnasts Zohra Aghamirova (2001), Zhalya Piriyeva (2000), Gulsum Shafizade (1998), Mansura Bagiyeva (1997) and Aysha Mustafayeva (1996).

Along with local, Georgian and Ukrainian arbiters, the contests were judged by referees of the international category Maria Petrova (Bulgaria) and Dragana Terzich (Serbia).
