Michel Platini

UEFA president asked to appoint Azerbaijani arbiter for final in Football Champions’ League.

“Arbiter Elchin Mammadov was born to judge the matches in the European football. We are going to ask UEFA president Michel Platini to appoint Mammadov for the final of the League of Champions to be held in Rome in May”.

According to News.Az, this sarcastic statement against Mammadov was voiced by head of the public club of Neftchi’s Friends Metleb Salakhov. The negative reaction among fans was caused by the arbitration at yesterday’s match of the 18th round of the Azerbaijani championship between Neftchi and Karabakh (0:0). On the 82nd minute Mammadov sent Neftchi’s new player Javid Huseynov off the field. Salakhov considers it was unjust.

“In some moments the arbiter did not pay attention to the rude game of the Karabakh players while suddenly he sent the Neftchi footballer off. He did it in the episode when the fans did not understand what happened”, Salakhov said.
