Baku to host regional health ministers' conference

Health ministers from the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) are to meet in Baku on 4-5 February.

It will be the first ECO ministerial conference to be held in Azerbaijan.

The conference will discuss key issues in modern medicine.

The Economic Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey in order to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation. The ECO is the successor to the organization Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) which existed from 1964 to 1979.

The members of the ECO today are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
