Government, employers, trade unions to sign general collective treaty

There is a plan to sign a trilateral General Collective Treaty for 2010-2011.

There is a plan to sign a trilateral General Collective Treaty for 2010-2011 in the near future, said Sattar Mehbaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.

He said the agreement will be signed between the Confederation, the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Confederation of Employers Organization of Azerbaijan to boost social cooperation between the government, employers and trade unions. The commission including the heads of the Confederation and member organizations for conclusion of the agreement has already completed work over the project and has introduced it to the relevant bodies.

According to Mehbaliyev, tariff agreements on spheres and collective treaties on the spots will be concluded after signing the agreements. The general collective agreements, tariff agreements on spheres are the main legal documents. All regulations of these legal acts are aimed at protecting social rights of employees.

“The last general collective agreement signed on 26 May 2008 is still in power. This document will not lose force until the signing of the next agreement”, the chairman of the confederation said.
