Road closures during Saakashvili's Baku visit

Traffic restrictions will be in place today on several of Baku's main thoroughfares because of the visit of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Vagif Asadov, head of department at the Baku State Traffic Police, told APA that the restrictions would start at 15.00 Baku time.

They will be in place on the Airport Highway, Heydar Aliyev and Azadlig avenues, Factory No 20 roundabout, Yusif Safarov, Uzeyir Hajibayli, Zarifa Aliyeva and Rasul Rza streets, Neftchilar Avenue, Azneft Square, Niyazi, Istiglaliyyet, Lermontov, Teymur Elchin and Mehdi Huseyn streets, Parliament Avenue and Mikayil Mushfig Street.

The Georgian president is expected to travel from the airport to Martyrs' Avenue and the Avenue of Honour and to the Milli Majlis.

Vagif Asadov urged drivers to avoid the aforementioned roads or to opt for public transport.
