Mubariz Gurbanly

I am against smoking in public places and I consider it should be banned in Azerbaijan and seriously controlled like in most developed countries, MP Mubariz Gurbanly told.

According to the deputy, fines against smoking in public places should be specified. “I have voiced my opinion in the parliament regarding this issue. Several deputies, including me, have proposed an initiative to make amendments to the law on tobacco and tobacco wares. This law puts some restrictions on smoking in public places. There are also restrictions in the issue of tobacco sales. This law should be strictly observed. If you visit Milli Medjlis’ website and read this law, you will see that it has restrictions. Of course, these restrictions are not so strict like in Turkey and European countries”, he said.

The parliamentarian considers that the law to ban smoking in public places can be adopted in the parliament. “We should stiffen this issue. This issue can be raised at a plenary session and if it is raised I do not think someone would be against, as this is directly bound to human health”, Mubariz Gurbanly said.
