An agreement on the facilitation of the visa regime between Georgia and the EU was initialled in Brussels on Wednesday.
The document was initialled by Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagania and the deputy director general of the European Commission's Directorate General for Justice, Freedom and Security, Jean Louis de Broewer.
The facilitated visa regime will make European travel easier for businessmen, students, people looking to enhance their skills, next of kin, journalists and other categories of people.
The agreement will officially come into effect nine months after it has been signed.
The sides also initialled a readmission agreement between the EU and Georgia, which will ensure the return home of Georgians who stay illegally in the EU.
