Azerbaijani parliament ratifies 2010 subsistence minimum

Azerbaijan's parliament, the Milli Majlis, adopted the bill "On the minimum subsistence level for 2010" at its plenary session on Thursday.

The overall subsistence minimum in 2010 is set at AZN 87 ($108.49) per month, compared to AZN 84 ($104.75) in 2009.

The subsistence minimum for able-bodied citizens is set at AZN 96 ($119.72), pensioners 68 AZN ($84.8) and children AZN 72 ($89.79).

Parliament ratified a 8.3% rise up to AZN 65 ($81.06) in the criteria of need used when calculating social assistance.
