Misir Mardanov

Azerbaijan's education minister Misir Mardanov has met his Georgian counterpart Niko Gvaramia in Tbilisi to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Speaking to journalists following the meeting, Mardanov said they had agreed to set up a joint committee and sign several agreements "in order to bring our cooperation to a qualitatively new level".

"We discussed problems in Azeri schools in Georgia and Georgian schools in Azerbaijan. We will meet teachers in Marneuli tomorrow. We plan to launch several projects there."

The Azeri minister also said he had invited Gvaramia to visit Azerbaijan.

"He accepted my invitation and promised to pay a visit to Baku early next year. The visit will be a follow-up to our talks here."
