We have never intended to worsen relations with Russia, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili told a meeting with the Ukrainian president during his visit to Kiev.

According to Saakashvili, he supports peaceful resolution of problems and considers solidarity and mutual support a priority.

“We are for the peaceful resolution of problems and we have never had the intention to worsen ties with Russia. Solidarity and mutual support are our priority. Our salvation and long-lasting relations base on this”, the Georgian president said.

According to the president, in fact the war was initiated by Russia. He considers that influential politicians who arrived during the war to Georgia were not scared with the circumstances and Saakashvili said this event will turn into history.

Within the framework of the visit to Ukraine, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko discussed the Georgian-Russian war and Russian aggression at the meeting. The meeting was held in private and the sides signed an agreement on air communication and cooperation of the Ministries of Justice. A new building of the Georgian embassy opened in Ukraine as well.
