Musa Aliyev
The 100th jubilee of Musa Aliyev, a prominent Azeri scientist and one of the first presidents of the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan, has been marked within the framework of Days of Azerbaijan in UNESCO, according to sources in the academy.
Prime Minister of the country Elchin Efendiyev spoke at the symposium in UNESCO on the scientist’s jubilee and informed the participants about the life and activity of the scientist. In particular, he said while being invited to one of the highest posts in 1940 in Moscow, M.Aliyev played a great role in supplying the Soviet army with fuel and in development of Azerbaijan’s industry.
UNESCO’s Deputy Secretary General M.Erdel speaking at the symposium stressed the contribution of the scientist in creation of the Azeri School of Paleontologists and the world fame of his scientific works in the sphere of geology and paleontology.
Head of the Seismological Center of the Academy Ikram Kerimov spoke of Aliyev’s contribution to the opening of oil fields in Algeria for which he was awarded by the president of this country.
