Azeri grandmaster ranking 8th in world championship

Shahriyar Mamedyarov

The World Blitz Championship involving two Azeri chess players – Shahriyar Mamedyarov and Vugar Hashimov - ended in Moscow.

According to News.Az, Shahriyar Mamedyarov took the 8th place by results of 42 rounds with his 22 points. Vugar Hashimov became 11th with 21.5 points. In 14 rounds held on the last day of the championship, Mamedyarov gained 8.5 and Hashimov 10.5 points.

Norwegian Magnus Carlsen with 31 points is on top. Indian grandmaster Vishvanatan Anand with 28 points is second. Ukrainian Sergey Karyakin with 25 points has become third.
