Shahin Novrasli
Jazz pianist Shahin Novrasli will perform in Paris on Wednesday and Strasbourg on Thursday.
He will perform a programme of jazz synthesized with Azerbaijani classical music, mugham. Shahin will be accompanied by Alexander Mashin on drums, Nathan Peck on double-bass, and his brothers Nurlan Novrasli on kamancha and Arslan Novrasli on tar. The kamancha and tar are both traditional string instruments.
Shahin Novrasli came second in the piano competition at the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival.
The Paris concert will begin at 21.00 on 18 November at the Sunside Jazz Club in the centre of the city. Invitations are required, but the club can be contacted on 0140262125.
Shahin will perform at 19.30 on 19 November in the Cite de la Musique et de la Danse in Strasbourg. This concert is an initiative of the Azerbaijani representation at the Council of Europe and marks National Revival Day in Azerbaijan and the 60th anniversary of the Council.
