Azeri grand master Shahriyar Mamedyarov defeats Vasili Ivanchuk and Vladimir Kramnik

World Blitz Championship involving Azeri chess players Vugar Hashimov and Shahriyar Mamedyarov continues in Moscow.

According to News.Az, the results of the three rounds played today have already  been declared. Shahriyar Mamedyarov was successful on the second day of the championship winning over Peter Leko (Hungary) and then humbling such world grand masters as Ukrainian Vasili Ivanchuk and Russian Vladimir Kramnik.

Owing to these three victories, Mamedyarov rose to the 15th place. He has 7 points after 17 rounds. Vugar Hashimov has the same points. He was absent (or came late) at the game with Russian Peter Swidler and this was recorded as his defeat, while in the next games he held a draw with Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomarev and then lost to Russian Alexander Grishuk thus ranking 16th.

Indian Vishvanatan Anand that gained 13.5 points of 17 possible is on top. The championship will be held in 42 rounds and end on November 18.
