Could you comment on Sabayel District Court's decision to sentence Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade for hooliganism?
To me, it’s an unfair and illegal decision.
The court did not take many facts into consideration and from the first day till the last the court's decisions were directed against the defense.
What is the defense going to do next?
We are preparing an appeal to the Court of Appeal. If this is rejected, we will appeal to the Supreme Court, and if the decision is negative, then we will appeal to the European Court for Human Rights.
We will do everything to set them free. Emin and Adnan were beaten up, illegally arrested and then sentenced, and after that officials asked us not to politicize this case but it was a politicized trial from day one.
What can you say about comments that Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade are not Internet journalists but just young people sentenced for hooliganism?
It’s not important what we call them.
These comments were organized to deflect the focus from the political context of this trial. They carry out many activities on the Net, and if international organizations now describe them as Internet journalists who have suffered because they wanted to attract attention to negative trends in public life, this is right.
Everybody should know that if they call Emin and Adnan hooligans, they violate their rights to presumption of innocence.
