Azerbaijan’s Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun will mark its 90th anniversary on December 21.
'Last year was devoted to this date, the public has already had time to watch seven first nights of the previous season', head director of the theater Alexander Sharovskiy said.
'We have invited a director from Saint Petersburg Iskender Sakayev who will stage Shakespeare play 'Midsummer nights’ dream'. 'This director uses the Meyerhold’s method, called 'Biomechanics'. It was applied in the 20-30s and I think that it will be useful for our artists to work on this system. The first night of the play will be held on October 9-10 and the fight night of the play by Ostrovskiy 'The truth is good but happiness is better' casting popular artists Dukhovnaya and Baliyev will be held on October 23-24', he said.
Commenting on the issue of holding the jubilee of the theater, he said probably such famous actors as Kalyagin, Yurskiy, Durov will arrive in Azerbaijan.
'When discussing this issue with the minister, I said that it would be interesting to invite someone from among those with whom I was working', Sharovskiy said.
He noted that it was perceived positively and 'if they come, it will make our jubilee magnificent”. “Probably, there will be guests from other countries and not talks are underway about participation of guests', he said.
