Azerbaijani chess team to play against nine rivals during world chess championship

FIDE has officially named 10 teams to participate in the world team championship due in Turkish Bursa in January, 2010.

According to News.Az, the Azerbaijani team that has recently become the European champion, is also among these teams. Azerbaijani chess players in Bursa will have nine matches against the teams from Russia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Armenia, Israel, USA, Turkey and Greece.

The world championship will start on January 4. 10 teams will play in nine rounds. Notably, Faik Hasanov, vice president of Azerbaijan’s Chess Federation, will fulfill the duties of the assistant head arbiter in the world championship.
