A blast has derailed five wagons of a freight train in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Dagestan.

The train was carrying grain from Astrakhan to Azerbaijan, according to preliminary reports.

No casualties are reported.

The explosion occurred at 12.30 Baku time (07.30 GMT) today near Kizlyar, on the branch line running between Kizlyar and Ulan Khol in Kalmykia. Five wagons were derailed.

Trains are not running at present in Dagestan. The Baku-Tyumen and Baku-Moscow passenger trains are amongst those that have been halted because of the blast. The authorities hope trains will be running again this evening.
