Azerbaijani rowers to participate in European championship in Portugal

The Azerbaijani team in rowing will take part in the European championship among adults for the first time.

The contest will start in Portuguese Montemor-o-Vellier on September 10. Azerbaijan will  be represented by Alexander Alexandrov and duet of Javid Efendiyev and Igor Khmara.

All the three sportsmen have already shown high results. Thus, for example, Efendiyev and Khmara took the sixth place in the July world championship in Belarus. After successful participation they held training series in high mountain resort area of Bulgaria-Bilmiken and Plovdiv.

On September 6 our team left for Portugal where head coach Rudiger Hauffe and his assistants Juliana Stojeva and Sergey Prodan will  hold the last stage of preparations for contests.

The European championship will involve 618 sportsmen from 34 countries. The contests will end on September 12.
