'Two issues to be considered in signing agreement on Karabakh conflict'

EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby continues meetings in Azerbaijan.

A meeting was held with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby at the headquarters’ of the "Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh" Public Union.

Semneby said that his purpose was to learn public opinion on Nagorno Karabakh conflict, negotiations conducted within the framework of OSCE Minsk Group.

'I had meetings with IDPs. I am acquainted with their condition. This humanitarian problem has continued for a long time and it is a serious obstacle for ongoing processes in the strategic region', he said.

He noted that two matters should be especially taken into consideration during signing of an agreement related to the regulation of the conflict: 'These are assurance for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and return of IDPs to their homelands'.

'Chief of the Union, Head of Shusha region Executive Power Bayram Safarov noted that IDPs waited for the day when they would get back to their homelands'.

Delivering speeches at the meeting the members of the union offered Semneby to invite the delegation to the EU for discussions. Semneby met the offer positively.
