Azerbaijani gymnasts were a step from the awards at the Grand-Prix stage and international contest in Israeli Holona.

According to the news service for the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan, national team leader Aliya Garayeva performed in three finals within Grand Prix. She took the fourth place in the final with a rope gaining high 28.425 points. Garayeva became sixth with a ribbon, a hoop and in all-round events.

The fourth place in all-round events went to Samira Mustafayeva and the group team of the country including Jeyla Guliyeva, Anastasiya Prasolova, Aelita Khalafova, Nigar Abdusalimova, Stephanie Trajanova and Eugenia Zhidkova who took part in the international contest.

Only Anna Gurbanova could not take a place among the top ten.  The unrecovered trauma she got before the final stage of the World Cup in Italy seems to have affected the performance. Russian gymnasts were leading in Israel, while Olympic champion Eugenia Kanayeva reached almost the maximum-29.7 of 30.0 possible!

“This was the last test contest before the world championship to start in Moscow in two weeks. The gymnasts will hold the premundial houses and days at the final trainings: Garayeva, Gurbanova and Mustafayeva will continue trainings at the base in Novogorsk near Moscow, while the group will train at the Olympic sport complex in Baku”, said trainers of the national team.
