The constituent assembly of the Public Union of the Azerbaijani Students' and Alumni International Forum (ASAIF) was held on 3 September 2010.
The assembly of the graduates and students from 15 countries involved 30 youth representatives.
Six youth representatives have become the initiators of this organization. They primary spoke of the urgency to found ASAIF public union.
After the founder spoke, the participants elected the chairman of the assembly and confirmed the charter of the organization in stages after the election of the secretariat of the assembly and members of the accounting commission.
Later the candidates for election structures were registered along with the formation of the Central Control Commission of three people, the staff of the board of 17 members and members of the assembly of 21 people. According to the charter, the board was formed from among the graduates and members of the assembly were formed from among the youth which currently lives and studies abroad.
At the end of the session, the participants elected Orkhan Akbarov the chairman of the public union. Orkhan Akbarov has already obtained the bachelor’s and master’s degrees abroad. He is currently completing his research. He works at the UNDP office in Azerbaijan and has 10 years experience of working with diaspora in the international sphere.
Orkhan Akbarov shared the goals of the organization stages, the future goals and ways to achieve them.
After discussing the current issues, the constituent assembly has completed its work.
